Excellent service from the moment we walked through the door. The menu is well set out and easy to navigate, the food we had was beautifully presented, and very flavoursome. Would highly recommend Eastern Eye to anyone who enjoys Indian food in a friendly relaxed atmosphere.
Popped in to the Eastern Eye without having booked and were given a friendly welcome and seated straight away. The décor is stylish, in fact as is the whole operation. Very impressed with the menu, from the usual suspects to some more imaginative dishes. I thought it was excellent value for money. But what really stood out for me and nudged this into 5 star territory was the service. We were keen to try new things and we like some spice in our food and they helped guide us with the menu choices, and it was spot on. So glad they don't provide a clichéd experience of Indian dining but are instead focused on professionalism and customer satisfaction. Can't wait to try more of the menu!
Knowing how crowded it can get, we booked a 7pm table on a Saturday night, and then when we were running late called and asked to move it to 7.30, which they obliged with no problem. We were seated immediately and served light & airy papadoms with hand-cut onions and their great yogurt sauce. Mr. Salam greeted us and we asked him for a variety of his famous dishes. We were provided with four of the the most delicious prawn, chicken, goat and lamb dishes - from hot and spicy to mild and carefully seasoned. The attention of the wait staff was prompt and courteous, as always. Dinner was finished with a small yogurt drink for desert. We started coming to the Eastern Eye in 1990 shortly after Mr. Salam opened, went there regularly for almost four years until we moved across the pond, and go there every chance we get when back in the Lichfield area. We have had Indian across the UK, on the Continent and in North America, and the Eastern Eye is still our standard for them all to live up to. This is a true gem of a restaurant.
This is an upmarket indian restaurant. The food is good and there are many special dishes that you would not find on the menu in most curry houses. If you want to go out for a romantic curry and fancy something more unusual than chicken tikka then this is the place to go. More attention has been paid to the decoretc than is the norm for this type of restaurant resulting in a more intimate atmosphere.
